About Us
We are Beate, Federico and our three kids, and we start Planet Conservation like a family-run volunteer organization.
It has been more than 20 years since we fell in love with Costa Rica and this love story still going strong.
During that time, we have created a receiving agency for adventure travelers looking for unique and personalized experiences that combine volunteering and sustainability.
We are located in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica, and we are focused on environmentalism, education, conservation and sustainable travels.
Planet Conservation was founded in 2011 by international professionals with extensive experience in various regions of the world.
Our organizational values:
- We make community. We care about people, their environment and quality of life. We recognize ourselves as part of a fabric and we take care of it.
- We believe in a more sustainable future. And we work for it! We are part of the solution and believe that every action makes a difference for the planet and the next generations.
- Education as a driver of change. The new generations must get involved with their environment, which is why our projects aim at social impact and the training of environmental leaders.
Our mission is to work for a better world, through action, commitment, joy and optimism. We love what we do and we dream of a more conscious and sustainable future.
Our vision, meanwhile, is to make a concrete contribution to environmental education and the protection of ecosystems and oceans in Latin America.
Our team and our projects are led mainly by volunteers, who participate as integrated members of the organization in any chosen project, while experiencing the diversity, local culture and nature of the Mesoamerican region.
Over the last 14 years we have been able to establish a unique network, working on community projects with national and international organizations and highly trained teams.
As a result, we have been able to cover a wide variety of topics in conservation, sustainability, research and other environmental initiatives, offering our knowledge to travelers, projects, organizations and communities that wish to change to sustainable tourism practices to improve their internal processes and efficiency.
By working directly with community members, we ensure integrated, lasting concepts and continuous improvements. We support social responsibility in corporations and organizations to enable new notions of work for the institutions and people involved.
